Salò

Located on the Brescia side south-west of the Lake Garda, Salò is the first municipality of the Riviera dei Limoni.

Famous for the mild climate of the Lake of Garda, due to the original vegetation of cypress, olive and oleander trees, is a locality of international tourist destination for more one hundred years.

By car: Salò can be reached by The A4 motorway exiting the Brescia Est tollgate and then continue with the ring road to the destination.
By train: Salò for the train leans on Brescia or Desenzano.

What to see in Salò:

On the beautiful Lungolago di Salò, at the landing stage, you can see the Palace of the Magnificent Motherland and the Palazzo del Podestà which bear witness to the noble history of the city.

The Palaces now house the municipal offices, in the atrium one can admire the frescoes by Angelo Landi and, under the portico that connects the two palaces, ancient coats of arms and commemorative plaques. Salò is located on an enchanting gulf at the foot of Mount S. Bartolomeo (m. 568) and is the capital of the Upper Garda area of ​​Brescia.

Do not miss a visit to the delightful churches of Madonna del Rio and the Cathedral of Sant’Annunziata. The historic center, between piazza Carmine, la Fossa; and the lakefront, is a dense succession of roads, alleys and small squares with stately homes, elegant shops, restaurants and bars.

What to do in Salò:

Very popular, especially by foreign tourists, is the Saturday morning market, which covers a large area. Salò offers boat trips to the characteristic towns of Garda and one long beach right in front of the city, on the other side of the small gulf, allows diving and bathrooms. From Salò you can also make beautiful walks by walking or in bicycle trails and cycle paths. A Sailing School punctuates the lake with small boats maneuvered by budding sailors and a walk, built of wood over water, skirts all the Gulf of Salò and invites to a long healthy walk. For some years Salò has been enriched by the prestigious MU.SA museum that hosts events and exhibitions of great appeal.

The most famous towns of Lake Garda are a stone’s throw away, like Gardone Riviera with its Vittoriale and the Botanical Garden Hruska.

To visit absolutely Manerba with the Rocca, the most beautiful balcony on the lake, while Desenzano, Peschiera and the necklace of small ports between Moniga and Toscolano Maderno are the places ideal for shopping and summer holidays.

The famous shopping centers of the Sails of Desenzano and the Lion of Lonato are two pleasant points of reference and interesting to visit for shopping.
